Graphic Design

Program Description

The Graphic Design program prepares students to use technical expertise, creativity, and esthetic principles to design and create visual concepts that meet specific commercial or promotional needs, as well as inspire, inform, and captivate consumers.  The skills that students gain in graphic design prepares them to be creative thinkers and gives them an edge in today's competitive world.

Course Sequence (2 to 3 Years)

Graphic Design 1

Grade 10|11|12

Graphic Design 1 is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of graphic design. Students learn the practical application of the basics of Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator CC.

Graphic Design 2

Grade 11|12

Graphic Design 2 is designed for students interested in continuing their study of the graphic design field. Students will learn more in-depth techniques in Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator CC and be introduced to Adobe InDesign CC, the industry standard for page layout.

Graphic Design 3

Grade 12

Graphic Design 3 is designed to develop students’ skills based on real time printing requests. Students will work toward industry certification in Adobe Illustrator CC.

Graphic Design Publication

Grade 11|12

Graphic Design Publication is a course that offers students an opportunity to learn publication skills and commercial art while becoming part of a design team. Students will explore the basics of photojournalism, concept design, typography, and publication layout.
